Tournament rules for Neuroshima Hex!
General information1. To enter the tournament, a player must first put their name on the list of participants,
which is closed 10 minutes before the start of the tournament.
2. People whose names are on the list but who do not appear when the tournament starts
are automatically crossed out from the list.
3. Players can use armies from the basic game set and, if available, from official expansion
sets, after 3 months have passed since publication.
•
Exception: The Doomsday Machine army is not allowed in tournaments.
4. Before each game, the players randomly select the armies they will use
5. If both players agree, they can swap the armies
6. The player who begins first is selected randomly
7. A player can undo any actions done during his turn, until they declare their turn to be
over
•
Exception: One cannot undo the use of tiles and abilities that require the
opponent to make a decision, like Push, in cases when the opponent can select
more than one place for their tile to go
8. Only basic Neuroshima Hex! boards are used. If the Duel expansion board is used, its
special rules are not taken into account, and it is treated like the basic board.
9. Terrain, Mercenary, Mad Bomber and other tiles that are not army tiles are not used.
10. During the tournament, rules from the latest edition of the game are used, even if
physical copies of previous editions are in use.
Tournament procedure1. A variation of the Swiss tournament system is used
•
Victory – 3 points
•
Tie - 1 point
•
Defeat – 0 points
2. The tournament is played in 5 rounds, in which the players play in pairs.
• If all players agree, and all rounds are played through quickly, an additional one can
be played
• If there are less than 10 players, the number of rounds equals the number of players
divided by 2, rounded down
3. During each round, all duels are played at once, and after they are finished, there is a 10-
minute break.
4. In case of an odd number of players, in each round the player with the least points
receives a bye - the player does not play that particular round, but receives 3 points.
• One person cannot receive a bye twice in the same tournament
5. During the first round, the players are paired randomly.
6. In subsequent rounds, players face opponents with the same (or almost the same) score
from previous rounds (first and second, third and fourth, etc.)
• No player can be pitted against the same opponent twice
7. Each player can use a given army only once.
• If there are 5 rounds, and only 4 armies are available, each player can use one (and
only one) army twice
8. After all rounds are finished the player with the highest score is declared the Champion.
• If more than one person has the highest score, a playoff game is played between
them (free-for-all multiplayer, if it’s more than 2 players)
